Tip Jars-A Revisit

I know we had some discussion on this a while back but this week, my SU demo sent out a beg asking for tips! She told us she spends 15 dollars a month for her Typepad blog and no one has given her a penny. She also has a site for SU.

Well she must have forgotten she sent out the beg via email because she then posted to her blog that it costs her 16 bucks a month for it. I am getting sick of her pleading poverty when she sends her kids to Europe every summer to play (neither of the kids have any sort of summer jobs), both kids got a free ride to college-one for some fringe sport, the other for finishing in the top 20%! (mine finished 13th of 465 and didn't get a dime) of her class. Her other half is an entertainment attorney and she works too. I have seen photos of their house and belongings. There is no poverty there. She lives in a ritzy area near San Fransisco for god's sake.

I have purchased from her once a year-making a significant cash outlay. But she always begs that she needs help-well, she has gone on the last 4 cruises because of yearly sales. And she always wants me as a down line. I am getting sick of it and honestly, if the next catalog (which she promised me free and then sent me a bill for postage) is as bad as the last one, I am out of here. I had to scrounge to find enough for the free parting gifts as it was.

She does give me free shipping if I buy enough, but I just don't see it worth it much anymore. Anyone else got this problem with people pleading poverty yet living high on the hog and flaunting it?

Hey bitches!! what's up. Wow that does sound cheap of her. and ya know what else... the ones that have the most usually do because they do nickel and dime the rest of us and never give. I agree on the slim pickins in the SU catty I hope the next one is better. I have been buying supplies this year vs stamps because I have purchased all of the stamps that I like in this catty and there are none left that I like so I just keep buying ink, paper, I just bought the craft spots to meet my Q minimums (I'm a SU demo hobbyist ie I don't hold a lot of workshops or anything so the Q minimum comes from me or a few sales.) The last 2 cattys have been marginally good. cheers... glenda the good bitch

That is just ridiculous! I have a blog but it is because *I* want to. I have a free one because I cannot justify the $ for the other one, but I would NEVER expect someone to help me pay for it. I think those Tip jars are tacky!

jeez....whats yer problemo?? Just go find someone else if she bugs you that much. I thought you were smart enuf to figure that one out....snark....

well she didn't bug me this much until just this week-for some odd reason. I guess cause I only buy once a year. I reminded her of the free catty and she fixed it but I just have a bad taste about it all. I see on her blog someone told her to go get a free blog from blogger but she isn't answering it at all. Why pay for anything unless its worth it anyways. Personally, I am ready to jump the SU ship like I did the CTMH ship when they went acrylic. I like my wood (he he). Unfortunately, the ones who pretend to be poor have no real clue what poor is. I grew up with negative nothing-and its still hard for me to buy anything new or just for me. I give my last dimes away and feel guilty spending just on me. Product of depression parents I guess. But it did make me think before I spend or go into debt.

Simply unbelievable.

First off, if you are spending that much with her each time, even if it is once a year, she should be giving you a free catalog, postage on HER.

And seriously? If she can send her kids to Europe once a year, she can surely afford to pay for her own blogs..or take the advice of getting a free blog through blogger...

Sorry, I'd drop her like a cheap dollar store stamp, that would all irk the living shit out of me.

I'd love the address for her blog...

I see at her blog she says she works for a non-profit and that it doesn't pay much. well, my friend just got the head job at a local non profit and she makes more than a lot of local doctors, mid managers etc. Her base is 167,000 plus benefits and a free car. way too many non profits are using your donations to live high. make sure you check out the financials before donating to anyone. if they can't substantiate where the cash is going other than to raising more funds and paying salaries, keep your cash.

ACTUALLY you holier-than-thou morons-on-a-high-horse-

She is a real nice gal!
Nicer than y'all.
Its UGLY that you are all so jealous-its very transparent!!

She might be nice but I am certainly not jealous her life. I would never ask for someone to foot my bills big or small-even when I needed monetary help, I earned it just on tips (anyone ever tried to live on nickles and dimes in a college setting in the 70'?). Look at her-so so not starving or needy. She can get a free blog or pay her fair share. She would never have taken it down if she thought it (the post) was worth leaving up. Maybe the guilt left a tingle in her brain but not enough to take the tip jar down. Sad. I won't be buying from her anymore.

SU demos are a dime a dozen. Most have no stamping talent and are just like Archiver's. Corporate designs and the same everywhere. Look at the blog. Been there, done that. I moved on to more sophistication and difficulty.

I visit hundreds of blogs a day and NO ONe is doing much of anything with the stamps until they move beyond only SU and incorporate other products. HOnestly, the stuff is the same from other companies but slap SU on it and its better???? Who are the morons here?

Anonymous said...

So WHO has the sophisticated blogs?
Names, links? Surely not anyone who uses those Treehouse brand stamps. Or the Artful Inkables, or all those country girl line drawings by Rachel or something? Please, country bumpkins from the 70s..

Oh, and WE are the morons here!
And I only included myself in the lump cuz I posted on here... LOL
Really its just you!

The best stampers are the ones who go beyond the big name companies. and those you mentioned above? Please. I love the blogs I find who are using stamps no longer available or out of print. That way I know it will be unique. One more same old design from SU-every blog has the same set the same week. I have unsubbed from all blogs that use only SU. I wish I could link you to my blogroll it would reveal my anonymity. Here is the deal I offer you-go to your local independant stamp store. look at the samples on the walls. those are the cards I want to see-and some aren't stamped at all. They are painted, embossed, cross stitched, pergamano'd, watercolored. all sorts of things besides just ink to paper.

SU does not mean the best-its just an option-and one that I am finally opting out of.

Sophistication is subjective... Just because you dont use Treehouse, Artful INKables or Rachelle Anne Miller Stamps doesnt mean others cant use them and come up with something VERY sophisticated. It is the talent of the stamper that makes the card art! Besides these are new companies that offer a variety of images...you cannot lump them in with the big name companies!
